IMPA KELA RUST 1412 is a milky liquid rust conversion treatment designed for situations where corrosion cannot be fully removed by sanding or blasting. It reacts with the rust layer and turns it into a strongly bonded protective film that helps slow down or stop further corrosion on steel surfaces.
During conversion, rusted areas shift to a blue-black appearance. Once cured, the converted layer acts as a barrier against moisture and oxygen and can be overcoated, making it a practical base for subsequent paint or anti-corrosion systems.
The 1 litre pack is ideal for larger jobs such as body panels, underbody sections and industrial steel parts, providing a cost-effective solution while maintaining consistent conversion performance across wider surfaces.

Key features
- Chemically converts rust in areas where mechanical removal is limited
- Deep penetration into corroded zones for improved effectiveness
- Leaves a dense polymer film after drying
- Paintable once the reaction is complete
- Ready to use; if needed, dilute with water only
- No solvents – do not add or clean with solvent-based products
- Lead-, zinc- and chromium-free

Application guidelines
- Degrease first: remove oil/grease; knock off loose rust and scale so the product can contact the stable layer.
- Rinse if contaminated: if exposed to salts/chemicals, rinse with water before applying.
- Apply: brush, roller, spray bottle or spray gun.
- Film build: match application to rust thickness and avoid runs.
- Cure: allow the reaction to complete before overcoating (typically at least 3 hours).
- Visual check: rusted areas should turn blue-black when conversion has occurred.
- Overcoat window: suitable for most paint systems within 6–7 days after treatment.
Spray parameters
| Equipment | Nozzle | Pressure |
|---|---|---|
| Air spray gun | 1.5–1.7 mm | 2–3 atm |
Warnings & storage
- Do not apply in direct sun or on hot metal—rapid drying can reduce conversion quality.
- No solvents: do not add solvents and do not use solvent cleaners.
- Avoid metal containers/tools; do not pour leftovers back into the original container (it may harden).
- Frost sensitive: store at +5 to +10°C.
